There are a number of stunning sites of antiquity to explore, (Methoni, Pylos and Koroni castles, Olympia, Ancient Messene, Mystra, Nestors Palace etc) quaint picturesque fishing villages to meander through and lush landscapes to marvel in.

The area is ideal for walking and rambling whether through olive groves, along beaches or hiking along river beds and even up mountains.

 

Messinia is renowned for some of the best beaches of Greece. A long coastline with numerous sandy coves with calm, clear azure waters. Some with organised, though low key facilities, sunbeds/cafe/bar, others wild and untouched.

 

There are various spots along the extensive coastline for water sports activities. Fishing is a popular past time and many shops have tackle and bait. 

Windsurf equipment is available for hire and tuition is also available for catamaran sailing and kayaks.

The local Dive centre offers P.A.D.I qualification courses, equipment rental, snorkeling tours and boat hire to explore the bays, coves and unspoiled reefs. A local fishing boat can also take you for a day trip to view the area from an alternative perspective.
